Coffee Time Reviewer's Recommend Award

Per the recommendation of my kind reviewer at Coffee Time Romance, my book, Memories of Murder has received a CTRR (Coffee Time Reviewer's Recommend Award) from Coffee Time Romance & More. I was told this award recognizes outstanding writing styles in all book types and genres and my book received this award because the reviewer felt it is above and beyond a 5 Cup Rating.
This was such a nice surprise. You always hope people like your book, but when they LOVE it, it's the best feeling in the world. Something like this is what keeps us writers going despite living with rejections and bad reviews from time to time. It satisfies the inner artist in me and makes me strive to continue to produce wonderful stories that people will love.

I hope you like the review, I sure did! You can see it here:http://coffeetimeromance.com/CoffeeThoughts/ Lara

Ruthless

If I had to describe my pursuit of a writing career, the word would be, ruthless.
Not in the terms of crawling over others to reach the top. No, that's not me. I'm talking about being ruthless with myself.
I decided three years ago to pursue publication even though I'd been writing for over twenty years. Since that time, my every free moment has been spent either writing, learning about writing or marketing my writing. My sweet hubby has supported me and helped allow me time to do these things. Bless him.
But still, I have given up a lot. Instead of shopping or going to movies or spending money on trips, I left my day job every day and headed right for the computer to begin my second job - writing.
In that respect, I have been ruthless. A harsh determination to achieve a goal. When I feel sorry for myself, I drive harder. There have been so many times I thought I should give up. But some part of me that is the authentic "writer" will not give in. It's who I am. It's undeniable. It's both harder than anything I've ever done and more rewarding than anything I've ever done.
Those of you who write know what I'm talking about.
Someday, if people enjoy my work and I am able to make a career of this crazy business, then it will all be worth it. Until then, I remain...ruthless.

My New Book!

My latest book is now available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble websites! ! !

This is a little different from my previous stories. It's a steampunk adventure with a touch of romance, titled, Airship to Carabarras.

Why steampunk? I love all the Jules Verne stories, particularly Around the World in Eighty Days. Also, the concept of dashing airship captains and spunky heroines is a great combination to throw together in a story. Add a secret society of Assassins, a slaver trader and a smidgen of mad scientist and you have a fast paced fun adventure.

I also adore the clothes: corsets, top hats, and lots of brass, leather and goggles. Accessorize with a bronze multi-shooter, chains and antique lace and you have the funky fun look that is steampunk. Some people say that steampunk is what happened when Goths discovered the color brown. But it's more than that. It's Victorian era with an explosion of gadgets and inside out chic.

Airship to Carabarras is the first in a trilogy chronicling Lady Arabella Trunkett's airship quest across a variety of exotic locales to rescue her kidnapped father. Sit back, relax and get ready for a fun adventure, an escape to a fantasy Victorian world with swashbuckling airship pirates and narrow escapes that will leave you breathless.

I hope you enjoy it. Lara

Memories rolls on...

Now into serious marketing for Memories of Murder. I am trying a variety of methods. Plus I've had tremendous support from my friends and family and I thank all of you for spending money on an unknown author!

So, what's the marketing plan?

Of course the foundation was my website. Keeping it updated with news about books coming out, posting trailers and links to Amazon and Barnes and Noble, running contests to gain some newsletter recipients, and a few other things.

Next, I've started doing some guests blogs which has been fun and I've met a lot of very nice people that way.

I sent a press release to my nurse practitioner organization, VCNP, and they put an article about me in their news letter.

I also made a small display to put in my local cafe hangout that has a pocket for free book marks. From that I got an invitation to speak at a local Kiwanis club meeting.

I'm submitting the book to review sites and hope to have some reviews coming out soon.

Look for Crescent Moon Press's fabulous ad in the May RT magazine which features not only Memories but my next release, Dealers of Light. RT will also be reviewing Memories at some point.

Sooo, there's still a lot to do, but that's the start. I ihave to say, it's very time consuming and I'm having to look at my time management so that I still spend time WRITING. oh well. See you next time! Lara

Memories of Murder is Live at Last!

Seems like forever, but finally Memories of Murder is live on Amazon. The Kindle edition is available now and print will be out in about 4-6 weeks. Then it will also be on Barnes and Noble.

This is my first published work and I'm extremely proud of it. (of course) I love the cover art and how it turned out after all the editing. I hope you will read it and leave a comment about how you liked it.

I want to write a sequel at some point that deals with Maeve's cousin, Damen. He's the black sheep of the witch family and became estranged while dabbling in the dark arts. But the love of a good woman can save him...right?

Here's the link to the book over at Amazon. Check it out and leave a review if you can.

Until next time, take care and keep reading! Lara
